The noni tree is grown on the grounds of Nashira as an alternative source of income. The pulp is extracted from the fruit and used variously in cooking muffins or in making yogurt.
In preparation for the design of the agora floor, artist collective Helena Producciones, along with artists Jacqueline Diaz and Nathaniel Katz and Nashira ground-keeper Don Jose Daniel, made some studies of the noni fruit as a design element.
